Over 500 people involved annually

The Waltja Collective brings together Aboriginal women from remote Central Australia to create and share their beautiful artworks, while also preserving and celebrating their rich cultural stories.

This program not only supports the artists but also gives back to our community.
We practise both traditional skills like seed jewellery, wood burning, and carving, as well as modern techniques such as painting and beadwork. Each artist gets to tell their own story through their creations. Best of all, every sale goes directly to support Waltja’s social programs and Emergency Relief (ER) fund.

100% of proceeds support our communities

The Waltja Collective is a group of artists working together to create beautiful art.

Many paintings are made at group gatherings and feature multiple artists. Everyone gets paid the same rate, earning money and achieve financial independence. This also helps fundraise to support elderly and vulnerable people in remote communities.

Waltja’s Art Centre is located at 3 Ghan Road in Alice Springs, where we support artists in creating freely. Any profits from sales go toward our emergency relief programs. Many of our team members began as trainees and now manage various aspects of the Centre, including purchasing, cataloguing, and sales. Thanks to funding from NIAA, we’ve been able to provide trainees with valuable skills and employment opportunities.
