What We Do

Community Capacity Building Workshops

Waltja actively engages with communities to build relationships and provide essential support through a variety of workshops. These initiatives occur monthly across all of our programs and focus on current issues.

  • Regular workshops address community concerns like youth suicide and domestic violence.
  • Engaging activities include bike repairs and screen printing for youth empowerment.
  • Educational sessions that cover bush medicine and cultural practices.
  • Skill-building workshops, like sewing to nurture creativity and practical skills.
Community Capacity Building Workshops

Our Workshops

Waltja offers a variety of community capacity-building workshops designed to empower individuals and families while encouraging positive change. Each program focuses on specific themes, addressing community needs through collaboration and cultural engagement. For example, wellness workshops focus on mental health, while skill development workshops include activities like bike repairs and crafting. Awareness workshops address substance use and resilience. Traditional knowledge workshops teach local customs, and financial literacy programs support informed decision-making.

Waltja is a registered charity backed by the Australian Government

Waltja’s core mission is to promote self-determination and encourage people to help themselves. Emergency accommodation, food and fuel are practical ways Waltja can help.
We create meaningful impact through language, art, and support services and connect Indigenous communities to essential programs like youth services, NDIS, aged care, and emergency relief.
